Drinking Premium Matcha
What Is Matcha?
Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder made from specially grown and processed tea leaves, traditionally known as tencha. Unlike regular green tea, where the leaves are steeped and then discarded, matcha is consumed whole, offering a more concentrated dose of flavor, antioxidants, and nutrients—especially L-theanine and catechins.
A Brief History of Matcha
Matcha’s roots trace back over 800 years to Tang Dynasty China, but it was in Japan where the tradition flourished. Zen Buddhist monks brought powdered tea to Japan in the 12th century, and it became central to the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu), especially among samurai and aristocrats. Over centuries, matcha became deeply woven into Japanese culture—valued for its ability to enhance focus, create calm, and symbolize purity and mindfulness.
Today, matcha is celebrated worldwide not only for its ceremonial origins, but also for its versatility and vibrant flavor in modern drinks and recipes.
